Where to buy antique lures
Shows
For a start it will be adviseable to go to shows. This is the best place to train your eyes of the lures conditions andalso a good place to see first hand the best lures in the market. As mentioned earler, this is your training ground. Majority of the lures are well described and priced up to the current market. Majority of the traders are professional, so do expect a “professioanl” price. But you can still find some bargain. Just wait for the last day. In most cases the traders will recude the price or offer some significant discount.
eBay
Yes, ebay still is the best place to find the hard to get old lures. There is no doubt about that. But then again, you need to have some experience before you can evaluate items on sales. But once you have the skill, you can be on your own on finding bargain at ebay. Word of caution, read all the posting details and study the photos carefully. Ask for more information or additional photos if necessary. Look for reputable seller, especuially those who are speclialise in selling antique and vintage lures. In most cases “these” professional seller will give a very extensive descriotion along with details photos. Refer to the eBay section for more tips.
Yard sale
You can find lot of interesteing items from yard sale. Unfortunately you cannot predict what you will find. In most cases you will find something that you are not familiar. It will be a very difficult situation, you cannot make a decition. My suggestion, just buy the items if the price is low and the lure seems to be in perfect condition. At least you can resell the lures at eBay at the same price or more. You can never tell what will be the final price. If you are a regular and observe sellers that sell lures regularlay. If possible try make friend and leave your number. Just ask him/her to give you a call if there is a new items for sale, before they arrive to the yard sale. At least you will have the previllage and probably get some good discount as a regular buyer.
Estate sale
Just like the yard sale, estate sale is also worth going. You never know what you will get.
In most cases items can be bought by lot basis. You can always dispose unwanted lures/items at eBay and make some extra in return. Unfortunately estate sale is not that regular as compared to yard sale.
Club
Look around you area and you might find lure collectors clubs. Alternatively you can always join club that offer membership through internet. Practically there is no barrier with the existing of internet.
Through the club contact you can always find members that offer some interesting lures. You also can dispose if you happen to have some extra lures.
