Here's a rare one - a Tarpon in Special color Day-N-Nite - and in the box with papers!!!

The lure is 6 1/2" long. Condition is excellent overall, with some age cracks & light dings. Right glass eye is fine but the left one is cracked.

Color paper catalog has a stain & is faded from some mildew, but may be cleanable - I don't know the process. No tears or rips though, and it's legible all around.

There's also a Creek Chub order blank, which is in good shape - soiled from being in the box, but no rips or tears.

Box is in good shape with light soil inside & out. There is some paper wear here & there, but all seams & corners are tight, with none broken or worn through. Boxtop end is marked Special C.C.B. Co. Lure, No. 4021.

Wooden Lures Part 10 – Bibless Lures Are Essential Fishing Hardware

Our tenth style of wooden lure (and the second to last in this series) is also one of my favourites - bibless wooden lures.

Of course, the name describes the main feature of this style of wooden fishing lure. Bibless wooden lures are designed to perform their task without plastic or metal bib sticking out to make them wiggle. That doesn't mean they don't wiggle though, far from it in fact! But the way they achieve their swimming action doesn't require a bib.

One of the great advantage of making some bibless wooden lures is that they are often used in very different ways than othe......

When suspending lures burst onto the market a few years back they were met with great enthusiasm, and rightly so! These little anomalies of the fishing lure world catch more than their share of good fish! Of course, now they are everywhere.

What is a suspending lure?

A suspending lure is one that will neither float......

Make Wooden Fishing Lures – Creating A Bib Shape That Fish Can’t Resist

The problem:

Ever get frustrated that you can't buy a fishing lure that does exactly what you need it to? You know the feeling, the lure you are using is almost there, it just can't be retrieved fast enough? Or maybe not slow enough? or maybe you need it to shimmy rather than sway widely?

The good news:

One of the great things about making your own wooden lures is that it becomes possible to make lures for a specific task and to fine tune and optimise them until they are absolutely deadly! Custom wooden lures tweaked in this way rock and t......

Vintage Fishing Lures Vs Fishing Lures of Today – Which One’s Better? An Engineer, Fisherman Reveals

Fishing has been practiced since before Biblical times. The equipment (nets, bait and lures) are about the only things that have changed - and change they have.

There's a growing interest in vintage fishing lures, but why?

  1. Is this because vintage fishing lures catch fish better than the lures of today?
  2. Is it because vintage lures are good investments?
  3. Is it because they are prettier?
  4. Are the older lures more interesting?
  5. Is it because vintage fishing lures are more durable?
  6. Is it just an interesting and fun hobby......

Lip Service – Fishing Lure Makers Guide To Choosing The Right Material For Bibs and Lips

A common decision when making fishing lures is what material to use for the diving lips/bibs. I've seen all kinds of materials used from all sorts of sources, but there are probably four common ones:

Perspex is a clear plastic that can be bought cheaply in sheet form of various thicknesses at most hardware stores

Polycarbonate (Lexan) is another clear plastic that can be purchased in sheets of various thickness, although most hardware stored in my area don't carry it, so you'll need to find a source.

Aluminum sheet, again available through hardware stores in various thi......

Making Wooden Fishing Lures For Beginners

When I was a boy I wanted to try my hand at making wooden fishing lures. I remember how I used to marvel at all the lures in my tackle box and wonder at how to make fishing lures. So without any experience or anyone to help me I tried to make my own homemade fishing tackle. Let's just say my first few attempts didn't quite turn out. That's why I decided to write this article on making wooden fishing lures so that you can avoid making the same mistakes I did when I first tried.

My first attempt at making homemade fishing tackle went like this if I remember correctly. I grabbed on old bro......
